Virtualisation Thread

Nice to get first post in here.

It seems that virtualisation of one flavour or another is the new black when it comes to roll out of applications and servers these days. Any experiences, pitfalls, good news stories?

I am expecting to be the proud (virtual) owner of a new blade server farm as of tomorrow morning, planning to deploy DOORS to 200+ users via SSGD (Sun Secure Global Desktop)and Win2003 Terminal Services sat on top of IBM blades and VmWare.

Will report back on my experiences here, would love to hear of similar endeavours.

Rgds
Andrew.

Andrew,

I'm running DOORS on a few VMWare servers. No problems encountered at all.

Wish I could go into more detail, but there's none to go in to. :)

Department of Defence in Australia run their DOORS DB on a blade virtual server (for over a year) and it is the largest DOORS DB in the region.
